3/2022: Finally saw and sat in one in person! The car looks better in person! When I sat in it the seating position reminded me of the last of the fourth generation Acura Integra. The view through the windshield was unobstructed by the dash, the seats bolstering was intentional, and the ride height made you feel like I was just a level above a go cart. It was very impressive, and I can definitely see one in my future.

Car and Driver featured the 2022 Toyota GR86 Premium at their Lightning Lap 2022 and shared their commentary. The biggest pitfall of the GR86 is the need for better brakes and brake fluid. 6/2021: The 2022 Toyota 86 will arrive with more horsepower and torque from a larger 2.4-liter engine but, it still will not be turbocharged or supercharged. It will have 228 horsepower and 184 lb-ft of torque to eliminate the dreaded mid range torque dip. It is also now part of Toyota’s GR brand, and most importantly to drivers – it still comes with 6 speed manual. It appears Toyota is making their buyers wanting more power to step up to the base model Supra’s 2.0-liter turbo model. Pricing for the 86 will start in the low $30,000 range.
